The article considers the problems of teaching students learning the German language to translate texts devoted to diplomacy. The characteristic features of this type of documents are: impersonality and objectiveness, predicative sentences, modal verbs, impersonal structures and the conjunctions. Two stages of teaching translation are presented in the article.
