Introduction. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that in the modern educational space of higher education institution the issue of forming students' readiness for independent work through benchmarking technology has not become the subject of special pedagogical research. Purpose of the work: consideration of theoretical bases of formation of readiness to independent work of university students and substantiation of pedagogical conditions promoting its formation. Materials and methods of research. The main part contains the author's definitions of the concepts of ‘readiness for independent work’, ‘benchmarking-tenology’. The pedagogical conditions of successful development of the process of formation of university students' readiness to independent work of university students are revealed. The results of the study and their discussion. The results of the study of university students' readiness for independent work were reported at international, all-Russian and regional scientific-practical conferences. The results and conclusions were reflected in scientific and methodological articles and teaching aids of the authors, as well as in the working programmes of academic disciplines. The article provides information about the implementation of the research results in the educational process of universities in Kazakhstan. The conclusion contains conclusions on the results of the research on the formation of readiness for independent work of university students, considers the significance of the work for the use of the proposed benchmarking technology in the study of students of other academic disciplines in higher education.
