Introduction. The article is devoted to the identification of the expressive potential of inversion in Udmurt journalism. Representing one of the least studied areas of Udmurt philology, the study of this issue is in demand for the development of theoretical issues of the stylistics of the Permian languages, writing teaching aids on the syntax and stylistics of the Udmurt language, as well as for conducting interdisciplinary research, including in the framework of studying the problems of emotional intelligence. The purpose of the article is to identify the expressive potential of inversion in the modern Udmurt language. The research materials were journalistic texts published on the pages of the republican newspaper Udmurt Dunne (2020–2023). To achieve this goal, the following methods were used: descriptive-analytical, contextual, continuous sampling and functional analysis. The results of the research, discussion. The active use of inversion in modern Udmurt media is due to the author's desire to enhance the expressiveness of the text. The expressive potential of inversion is reflected in the addressee's ability to focus the recipient's attention on a more significant section of a text or sentence, to exert influence, convey a certain rhythm, expressiveness and emotionality, create an effect of surprise, improve the information content and interpretation of the recipient of the article, thereby reflecting a subjective attitude to the material being presented. Conclusion. Inversion in Udmurt media can serve as a means to fulfill various intentions of the author, which reflects the presence of a large expressive potential of this stylistic device. The use of inversion in the text allows you to implement the main functions of the journalistic style.
