The article focuses upon the means of expressiveness in the translation of belles-lettres style on the basis of E. M. Remarque’s novel «Three Comrades». I. M. Schreiber’s and Yu. I. Arkhipov’s translations are compared. The category of expressiveness is viewed as stylistic category, pragmatic category, semantic phenomenon and functional phenomenon. The author provides the analysis of phonetic expressiveness, expressive resources of lexical means and expressiveness at syntactical level.
