The formation of the Russian nation has been taking place after the breakup of the USSR with migration processes being of great importance. The study of these processes and their influence on inter-cultural and inter-ethnic situation in the Republic of Mari El is one of the research objectives in the Mari State University. This study is a part of major research «Integrated Study of a Person as a Subject of Social Changes in Polycultural regions» being performed in the Laboratory for Gender Studies.
