The article deals with research on the functioning of the sentence core elements (the subject and the predicate) in the Meadow-Eastern Mari literary language in comparison with the linguistic characteristics of the cognate and non-cognate languages of the Ural-Volga region. The author considers various kinds of subject-predicate combination and analyses the reasons for predicate quantification.
