The article determines a number of genres typical of Russian traditional culture in Mari El and focuses on the peculiarities of their poetics and contents. The most productive models of interaction between Russian and Finno-Ugric cultures in the region are stated; they are apperception, interference and co-creation. Examples of these models are given.
