Introduction. The integration of information and communication technologies with the field of education opens up new directions for the development of digital pedagogy, professional and personal potential of subjects of the educational process. His understanding and historical and analytical assessment made it possible to determine the value of the ancient philosophical origins of the development of personality potential for modern Russian pedagogy, which became the purpose of this study. Materials and methods. Analytical methods, abstract-logical and systematic approaches contributed to the realization of the goal. Research results, discussions. The article reveals valuable ideas for modern pedagogy about human nature and ideas about personality in the ancient dimension, factors of development of its potential. The moral aspects of personality formation, creative aspects of its development and ethical aspects of the development of its potential, relevant for the modern conditions of digitalization of education, are revealed. A tree of personality potential in the pedagogical dimension has been compiled, including historical and philosophical «roots» (the past), current experience in actualizing personal reserves (the present), prospects for the disclosure and expansion of personal capabilities (the future). In conclusion, the results of an analytical assessment of the origins of the development of personality potential in the philosophy of antiquity in accordance with the criteria of structurality and factoriality are presented.
