K. Korshunov’s, M. Rybakov’s, B. Regezh-Gorokhov’s and A. Ivanova’s plays are of great interest in researching the poetics of musical images and symbols in the mari drama of this period. Musical symbolics is multifunctional in these works. It links and moves the story plot, characterizes the heroes, enhances a dramatic conflict, discloses the inner world of characters, the authors' particular world view and the philosophical component of the drama concept.
