The article is devoted to the problem of functioning of loan words in its communicative aspect. The author pays attention to the current trend that is understood as characteristic feature of many languages – the expansion of anglicisms, which is mainly caused by objective reasons. The study compares these events in the retrospective aspect of the Russian language. Also the thematic groups of adopted neologisms are analyzed, and their possibilities of linguistic stability are estimated in this article. The communicative potential of adopted words is mentioned in its interrelationship with real communicative practice of native speakers of the Russian language.
