The article gives coverage to the information from the works by (the Arabian, Persian, Turkic, Armenian) medieval authors on captivity and slavery during the Mongolian conquest in Middle Asia, Asian Near East, Transcaucasia and Eastern Europe. The countless number of captives resulted in their killing by the Mongols, later they were sold. The slaves were used in service, building, handicraft, herding and soldiery. Women-captives were sexually exploited, as a rule; they could become wives, concubines or servants. The forms of slaves’ resistance and their attempts to change their social status are described in the article.

The writer restores to the same markers of modern times as the authorities of popular literature. In parallel with material objects L. S. Petrushevskaya includes into her tales numerous precedent-related texts, allusions to classical works, popular folklore genres and literature.

The article is dedicated to the creative work of the Finnish artist Agathon Reinholm (1857–1887) who worked in collaboration with the Finnish scientists and regional ethnographers collecting ethnographical materials and works of art for the Finno-Ugric Society and the National Museum of Finland. The rich Finno-Perm cultural traditions are the source of modern creative work. A. Reinholm visited the Volga-Ural region with the Finnish scientist A. O. Heikel to study ethnography and traditional arts of Finno-Ugric peoples in Russia.

The article contains a justified assumption of the fact that G. R. Derzhavin’s poetry goes far beyond classicism. In Russian literature, he was one of the founders of realism. It was the influence of realism opened by G. R. Derzhavin that made A. S. Pushkin, a romantic poet, take the path of realism being guided by his teacher’s experience. As a matter of fact, G. R. Derzhavin is actually a forerunner of one more style — Russian sentimentalism, being called “karamzinism” in the beginning.

Экзогенные политические факторы, в той или иной степени влияющие на внутриполитическое развитие государств, имели и имеют неоднозначную трактовку. Оценки приобретают особую остроту, ко-гда внешним фактором оказывается феномен продвижения демократии в недемократической стране усилиями демократических промоутеров . Одна из наиболее распространенных претензий связана с попытками демократических стран и, прежде всего, США сделать демократию как форму политического устройства государства достоянием как можно большего количества стран мира. Этот процесс имплантации демократических политических институтов и практик преимущественно в неевропейскую политическую среду получил нелестное название «экспорта демократии». В конечном счете, позиция противников демократии сводится к тому, что «экспорт демокра-тии» есть не что иное, как специфическая форма реализации далеко идущих геополитических планов США и его союзников по НАТО. И что демократическая риторика выступает лишь формой прикрытия стратегических устремлений сильных мира сего. Подобное утверждение недругов демократии имеет слишком абстрактный характер и отличается крайним обвинительным пафосом по отношению к феномену демократии, что разводит сторонников и противников демократии еще дальше друг от друга и не сопутствует поиску истины.

The significance of the book in the projection on the author’s fruitful scientific creative work is mentioned in the review of A. T. Lipatov’s Book “Rhetoric through the Time Mirror”. The structure of the monograph is accompanied by the reviewer’s understanding of each section’s content. Special attention is given to the fundamentally new in the theory of rhetoric concepts and terms (e. g. “tropeized rhetorical figures”), purely author’s personal interpretation of the history of rhetoric, laws and rules of rhetoric formulated by the author. Peculiar features of A. T. Lipatov’s ideostyle are emphasized in the article.
